"Without a doubt I would have to say that the Grand Theatre Academy

gave me the self confidence and belief that is essential for every

actor when they are starting out...without this I most certainly

would not have been able to realise my ambition

of being a professional actor."

A GRAND ADAPTATION OF CLASSIC COMEDY... AND THAT'S THE TRUTH!

Back to all press releases

The Grand Theatre Youth Academy present true

British comedy with Billy Liar in the Studio from

February 21 to 24.

Billy Fisher, a working class nineteen year old, lives a dreary, ordinary life, but escapes from it by living in a dream world. His lack of attention causes inaccuracies in his work (the funeral directors of Shadrack and Duxbury), leading him to lie. As his errors and lies start to pile up he feels he has to get away...Billy has a difficult decision to make.

Performed by the senior members of the Grand’s very own youth theatre (aged 15 to 19), this is the famous play written by Willis Hall and Keith Waterhouse in 1963 that starred Albert Finney and was later made into a hit film starring Tom Courtenay and Julie Christie.

Tickets for Billy Liar at the Lawrence House Studio from Wednesday 21 to Saturday 24 February at 8pm are priced at £6 and are on sale now from the Grand Theatre Box Office.
